Alliant Computer Systems Corp says one of its Intel Corp 80860 RISC-based Campus/800 parallel minisupercomputers at the University of Stockholm – with 192 CPUs and 4Gb memory – has simulated chemical models of a reaction involving up to 481 atoms and lasting 36 hours: that’s seven times larger than previously achieved on any other supercomputer, it claims.
