According to the company, the new Area-51 m15x and m17x notebooks feature 15.4-inch and 17-inch screens, respectively. The m15x is equipped with Core 2 Duo Extreme 2.80GHz processors and Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX graphics, and dual hard drive capabilities. The GeForce 8800M GTX graphics controllers used in the two laptops provide 3D performance. The m17x has a space for a third hard drive and rest of the specifications being similar to that of m15x. The Area-51 m15x and m17x notebooks are available with up to 320 GB and 640 GB hard disk capacities, respectively, with an expandable Smart Bay hard drive option. Further, Alienware has integrated a feature called BinaryGFX in which a user can switch between integrated graphics and dedicated graphics depending on his needs.

The new notebooks models also feature Skullcap and new Ripley-themed lids and backlit keyboards. Both the models come with Blu-Ray burner optical drivers.

In a similar move, in October 2007, Micro-Star International (MSI) introduced the Turbobook MSI GX600 with the Intel Centrino Duo Mobile technology. Also, in June 2006, Asus launched its 15.4-inch Lamborghini F3J series of gaming notebooks.
