As its Silicon Graphics Inc parent works itself up to an Intel Corp-based Windows NT box, its Alias/Wavefront animation software subsidiary says its current plan is to have an NT version of its graphics rendering engine available for use with version 8.5 of its PowerAnimator software due in the fall. The NT version of its next-generation Maya software won’t be delivered until long after it’s available on SGI Irix Unix, slated for the first quarter of 1998. There are no details about which hardware platforms the NT version of Maya will be supported on; an Intel SGI box or third party systems or both.
