Alfa-Bank and partners introduce taxi payment terminals

Alfa-Bank, one of the largest privately owned banks in Russia, has teamed up with mobile operator VimpelCom, Visa International and Moscow-based Renault-Taxi to install mobile credit card terminals in taxi cabs.

Wireless card payment terminals were installed in all of the 150 cars operated by Renault-Taxi. The terminals ensure payment data transfer via GPRS modems operating in VimpelCom’s network.

The mobile bank-card terminals are expected to prove popular among corporate customers in Moscow, and will enable the four partners to expand the range of their services available to customers.
