EMC Corp, Hopkinton, Massachusetts expects the computer data storage market to expand dramatically by the year 2000 – president and chief executive Michael Ruettgers told investors the technology seminar that his company would be well positioned to take advantage of such growth, including both the mainframe market and explosive growth in client-server markets: Ruettgers said the maker of high-performance disk arrays will announce a new product line for open storage computing environments later this year and while he sees continued price declines for storage products, he feels that EMC will continue to gain market share and stay profitable – indeed Ruettgers said the company will probably increase profits faster than sales; Ruettgers said in response to a question about the Iceberg disk array product made by arch-rival Storage Technology Corp that he felt the product wouldn’t have a significant impact on the market.
