Seattle, Washington-based Aldus Corp has upgraded its FreeHand drawing program for the Apple Computer Inc Macintosh to release 3.0, saying that it has all the experimentation features of version 2.0, and new features that make it faster, more powerful, and more intuitive to use: new features include on-screen Colours, Styles, and Layers palettes that list the line and fill colours, graphic styles, and layers that customers create in an illustration; enhanced text controls enable customers to convert characters to editable outlines, automatically position text around the top and bottom of an ellipse, and create vertical text, each with one click of the mouse; it runs on the SE/30, Portable or II series with hard disk and 4Mb memory, although it will work in 2Mb on a Plus; it’s $600, $150 to upgrade and will be available this quarter.
