Alcatel NV reports that its Alcatel Network Systems Malaysia unit has won two telecommunications contracts worth a total of $250m over five years: the orders were placed by MRCB Telecommunications Bhd, a private mobile telephone operator and are for a Personal Communications Network based on the DCS 1800 standard and for the interconnecting microwave system; Alcatel Network Systems Malaysia is a local joint venture set up in 1993, in which Alcatel has a 51% stake and Telecom Malaysia Bhd has about 49%.
