ALCATEL WINS LYONNAISE CABLE PHONE DEAL

By CBR Staff Writer

Alcatel Telecom SA has won a contract with Lyonnaise Cable SA, a major cable television operator in France, for the supply of a telephone system over cable, the first step in a massive deployment of telecom services on the existing cable TV infrastructure. Lyonnaise Cable’s network passes over 2.3 million homes in various cities in France, and Alcatel will supply switches and cable telephony equipment, with the initial service beginning this year in the town of Annecy.
