Alcatel NV subsidiary Alcatel CIT reports that it has won an order from the Chilean Telephone Co for two Alcatel 1000 broadband switching systems for use in Chile’s first high bit-rate network using Asynchronous Transfer Mode: by mid-1994, the network will link all the higher education establishments on Santiago’s four university campuses, and it could be extended to other subscribers during 1995.
