Just because the Open Software Foundation spurned DEC’s DECmcc as its distributed management environment, it doesn’t mean that it is dead – the company announced in Geneva that Alcatel Business Systems will be producing software modules for the Digital manager: the modules will enable DECmcc to manage Alcatel’s PABXs and in return, French-controlled Alcatel will resell DECmcc, and move its own management software onto it.
