The Alcatel Schweiz AG subsidiary of Alcatel Alsthom SA is to cut 470 jobs by end-1998 as part of a restructuring of its business in Switzerland. The decision follows Swiss Telecom PTT’s decision that it will no longer buy switching equipment from Alcatel, giving all its exchange business to Ascom Holding AG and Siemens AG from 1998.
