Following its success with System 12 telephone exchanges in Poland – if it ever gets paid for the things, Alcatel Standard Electrica SA of Spain has now breached the Great Wall of China with an order for five System 12s for Hubei province: the exchanges will start with 1,800 trunk and 43,000 subscriber lines, growing to 180,000, and with pulse code modulation transmission equipment, total value is $11.5m.
