Eight new telephone exchanges constructed by Alcatel Sesa SA were opened in Warsaw yeterday, Reuter reports: the eight 1000 S-12 digital exchanges were built under a $60m credit from the Spanish government and Warsaw hopes they will help attract foreign businessmen who are wary of Poland’s current ramshackle telephone system; the eight new urban exchanges were built in co-operation with state-owned Telekomunikacja Polska SA and have a capacity of 140,000 link terminals and local exchanges with a total capacity of 120,000 lines.
