The radical shake-up at Alcatel NV will by no means leave the big German arm, Alcatel SEL AG unscathed, and the restructuring will mean a loss of decision-making power and accelerated job cuts, said works council deputy chairman Horst Lausmann. At the end of June, the loss-making company employed 17,700 workers, down from 20,900 a year earlier.
