ALCATEL SEL TO CUT 1,100 JOBS

Alcatel NV’s Stuttgart-based Alcatel SEL AG, formerly Standard Elektrik Lorenz, is to cut a net 1,100 jobs this year from its 21,600 total: no lay-offs are planned; the cuts will be made at its plants in Berlin, Stuttgart Wernau, Nuremberg and Mannheim, it said.
