The Alcatel NV unit of Alcatel Alsthom SA says it has two contracts from Telecom Australia to supply over five million telephone lines and two new international telephone switching systems: the switching systems are worth the equivalent of $20.5m, Alcatel said; a source close to the deal said the supply of the lines was worth around $70m.
