Alcatel-Lucent has deployed its intelligent network system for Israeli cellular operator Partner Communication.
According to Alcatel-Lucent, the Partner network features an advanced combination of functionality that is expected to allow service creation and the blending of services over multiple access networks and devices.
Partner’s converged call pick-up service enables subscribers to choose whether a call will be answered on a fixed NGN network line or on their mobile handset. These converged capabilities, a result of joint development between engineers from Alcatel-Lucent and Partner, are enabled by Alcatel-Lucent’s 8690 Open Service Platform (OSP), enhanced with a service creation environment.
Operating over the same OSP platform, the Alcatel-Lucent 8610 Instant Convergent Charging Suite (ICC) is expected to enable Partner to provide personalized service offerings for mobile prepaid services, once in place. Integrated into the service provider’s billing system, it will enable Partner to bring to market new convergent, fixed and mobile prepaid and post-paid services.
In addition, Alcatel-Lucent’s 5920 multimedia content manager will provide the management, merchandising and delivery of converged content services.
Alon Berman, vice president for internet and broadband at Partner, said: We decided to deploy Alcatel-Lucent’s Open Service platform a couple of years ago and are now enjoying its futureproof interfaces, as it is supporting our strategy to broaden our offering and services portfolio, to cover both the broadband and mobile networks.
