Ottawa, Canada-based Tropic offers the network intelligence of Wavelength Tracker, an optical layer management technology, and Reconfigurable OADM, a technology that enables service providers to remotely reconfigure capacity at each node. This allows operators require to upgrade their network without affecting in-service traffic.
The impetus behind the acquisition is that bandwidth-hungry services for consumers, such as IPTV and video-on-demand, is leading operators to increase the flexibility and ease of use of their optical networks.
