Alcatel NV has formed Alcatel CIT Maroc SA in Rabat as a telecommunications equipment and systems supplier: the three partners are Alcatel CIT of Paris and two Moroccan companies, CGE Maroc and Marotelec, and the new company is intended to become the major telecommunications supplier in Morocco, which intends gradual deployment of ISDN in the network. The new company, staffed mainly by local engineers and technicians, will concentrate initially on the first phase of engineering, installation and maintenance for recent contracts for E10 digital exchanges and transmission equipment. Alcatel will also transfer manufacturing technology over time.
