By CBR Staff Writer

Alcatel-Lucent has released a new 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GigE) enterprise switch, OmniSwitch 10K, which features five terabit per second of wire rate switching capacity and supports 256 10GigE ports.

The company claimed that its new switch delivers less than 1.5 watts per non-blocking Gigabit per second bandwidth.

Alcatel-Lucent said that its new product employs virtual queuing technology, which enables fine-tuned application delivery control that prioritises traffic.

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise business CMO Nicolas De Kouchkovsky said, the new OmniSwitch 10K offers management of available resources and applications through simplified network architecture and dynamic policy management.
