Szekesfehervar, Hungary-based personal computer distributor Albacomp RT has signed an agreement with IBM Corp’s OEM division to buy components from IBM’s plant in Greenock, Scotland, enough, in fact, to assemble about 8,000 Personal System personal computers a year. According to Hungarian news agency MTI, Albacomp has been the largest personal computer manufacturer in the country since IBM’s key partner in the region, Muszertechnika RT, switched its manufacturing activities to Singapore; Albacomp is expected to begin selling its ‘True Power’ machines later this year.
