Alan Benjamin OBE has taken over the chairmanship of troubled Woking-based keyboard maker Alphameric Plc from Geoff Bristow, who will stay on as director: Benjamin’s experience in the computr industry includes being the first director general of the Computing Services Association and public relations guru for ICL and the CAP Group Plc: bearing in mind this experience, did he think it fair to conclude that he was being drafted in to allay fears that Alphameric, which Octagon Industries has been commissioned to rescue, could go the same way as that other Octagon project Headland Group Plc? Benjamin thought not, replying that he was being brought in to do a typical chairman’s job and to free Bristow, to work on the Alphameric recovery.
