The features added the company’s Application-Level Gateway Filtering or AppliFilter system is designed to block the transfer of files at the gateway if they contain malicious code, pirated content, or confidential data. The screening operation is similar that used in active intrusion-detection systems, inspecting all content in transit, while remaining transparent to end users.
The system can handle file transfers to and from ICQ/AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger traffic. Aladdin said it is also effective with the Skype VoIP telephony system.
Aladdin has three business units, one in digital rights management where the core product is the Hasp platform, the eToken division in strong authentication, and the eSafe line, which is likely to drive most growth for the company.
