Akron General selects Wolters Kluwer Health’s ProVation software

The software be used to document and code catheterization procedures

By CBR Staff Writer

Akron General Medical Center has selected Wolters Kluwer Health’s ProVation software for cardiology procedure documentation and coding. The software will be used to document and code catheterization procedures at Akron General’s Heart and Vascular Center.

Wolters Kluwer said that ProVation software replaces dictation/transcription and streamlines the coding and billing process. Unlike Cardiovascular Information Systems, which collect patient measurements and administrative data, ProVation allows clinicians to document medical procedures at the point of care, and then applies the appropriate reimbursement codes to drive compliance and revenue recovery.

Wolters Kluwer also said that ProVation interfaces with cardiovascular nursing, imaging and measurement systems to complete the electronic documentation process and free busy cardiologists and technologists from time-consuming dictation.

Robert Schweikert, chief of cardiology at Akron General Medical Center, said: By providing cardiologists with electronic health records that shorten the documentation process and cut down on administrative costs and delays, we free them to spend time, where they prefer to be: with their patients.

Arvind Subramanian, CEO, Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Solutions and ProVation Medical, said: “The award-winning Heart & Vascular Center at Akron General is a leader in the delivery of cardiac care. Their selection of ProVation MD cardiology software is validation that our multi-specialty documentation and coding solution is aligned with the key enterprise initiatives of hospitals, health systems and ASCs across the country.”
