Network Computer designers may well find their interest piqued by a new board from Fremont, California-based AITech Inc which for $250 (and presumably a lot less if you buy the components) is claimed to play personal computer video at high quality on a big screen television. The VSPro V64 video accelerator board is a Super VGA board card with AITech’s all-digital VSPro Model AIT1108 video scan converter, which uses proprietary Flic-Free technology to eliminate screen flicker and support up to 16.7m colors on virtually any TV worldwide. It sees it being used for three-dimensional games, MPEG full-motion movies and Internet- based video conferencing. The Cirrus Logic Inc GD5446 VGA controller is used alongside the VSPro chip. The $250 board has 1Mb display memory and includes MPEG playback software and accessories needed.
