Under the terms of the agreement, Nokia will supply Advance Info Service (AIS), the largest mobile phone operator in Thailand with over four million subscribers, GSM networks equipment, including Nokia Ultrasite Base Stations, Switching Centers and WAP Gateway. Additionally, Nokia will provide AIS radio network planning, construction works and implementation and network optimizations services.
Deliveries have commenced and are scheduled to be completed during Q1 2002. This agreement will enhance AIS’ service coverage and capacity and enable the company to offer its customers advanced value-added services based on WAP and GPRS.
We selected Nokia for this network expansion as we firmly believe Nokia is able to offer AIS the required advanced leading edge technology and committed support from Professional Services, explained AIS’ vice president of engineering, Wichian Mektrakarn, in a company statement.
