AirTouch Communications Inc plans its debut in Latin America by entering the promising Brazilian market for cellular services. It has joined a consortium of Brazilian companies to bid for concessions to operate band B frequency for cellular telephones as soon as the opening of wireless services to private capital is regulated. The consortium also comprises Odebrecht construction group, private bank Unibanco and Folha da Manha publishing company, which publishes the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper. The consortium could not estimate how much it will invest in cellular services in Brazil but said it was looking at hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars in investments over the next five years.
