AIN’T NO SUNSHINE

By CBR Staff Writer

Sun Microsystems Inc has suddenly become very secretive about its quarterly numbers. Perhaps it doesn’t like it that members of the press don’t preface their questions with congratulations on a great quarter guys! Maybe it just doesn’t like our line of questioning. In any event it has stopped us getting on quarterly earnings calls. One alternative is to listen to its posse of Wall Street boosters. Another is to listen to CEO Scott McNealy: a terrific quarter! Or maybe that’s just the same thing. And Sun was always talking about openness. But Microsoft Corp has it bang to rights here. Congratulations Sun! You’ve joined the elite world of IBM and HP financial reporting.
