AIMS Lab Inc has introduced Jam, a gaming peripheral that lets console gamers take advantage of PC monitor resolution. The product hooks video game consoles, including Sony Playstation, Sega Saturn and Nintendo N64, to a PC or, with an adapter, a Macintosh. Jam plugs into the video card of a PC without interfering with simultaneous computer functions, the Fremont, California based company said. Users can play games on the higher resolution screen of a PC monitor, and hear sound effects on multimedia PC speakers. The average American TV is eight years old. It has a single audio speaker about as big as a silver dollar. On the other hand, video game creators have engineered games meant to be played with vivid visual effects and powerful stereo sound, said Umar Hameed, director of sales and marketing. Jam is out now for $79.95.
