In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Hewlett- Packard Co broke out numbers for the Agilent test and measurement business it is in the process of spinning off. The unit, which was reported as a discontinued operation in the regulatory filing, saw revenue up 11% in the third quarter to $2.09bn, and reported earnings that more than doubled to $157m from $67m in the year-ago quarter. HP also said in the filing that it expects Agilent’s earnings from August 1 through the completion of the spin-off – expected to happen by the middle of next year – to exceed the estimated costs of the divestiture.
