Following the model pioneered in the UK (CI No 1,688), Norsk Data A/S is putting its ND ServiceTeam maintenance and services arm into a joint venture with Thomson-CSF SA’s Thomainfor arm in Scandinavia, and changed the name of the business to Comma Data Service A/S. Comma, with 560 employees, is the biggest of Norsk Data’s three autonomous operating companies, formed in September 1991 in a major restructuring. The alliance with Thomainfor covers the Nordic markets for maintenance of data systems and networks. Comma says it made an operating profit equivalent to $11.6m in the first half of 1992 on turnover of $56.3m, adding that it still wants additional partners.
