The Aeronautical & Space Technology Research Institute of the Agency of Industrial Science and Technology, the research division of the Ministry of International Trade & Industry, and Fujitsu Ltd have announced their joint devlopment of the fundamentals of an expert system for designing vehicles for space orbit: the basic structure of the system has been completed, and the task of working with experts to input the knowledge of propulsion, aeronautics, mechanical structure, and control is under way; a Fujitsu mainframe is being used for the project, but details of the software that’s being used were not revealed.
