Lowe Howard-Spink and Bell, Saatchi and Saatchi Group, and Ayer Barker are the three advertising agencies contesting the contract to promote the GEC-Plessey telecommunications joint venture, according to Campaign: the advertising weekly suggests that Lowe is favourite because it handled last year’s GEC bid for Plessey, and because chief executive Tim Bell is an old friend of GEC managing director Lord Weinstock: the paper says the contract will be very lucrative, although no firm budget has been drawn up.
