ADVANTEST TO RELEASE DISK SUBSYSTEM FOR DEC VAX MACHINES

Advantest Inc, partly owned by Fujitsu Ltd, is to release two models of disk subsystem for use with DEC VAX machines: the disks are the AMOS11-52S for the VAXstation and the AMOS11-51C for bigger VAXes and the 52S has a maximum disk capacity of 600Mb; the disk drives are being bought OEM from Sony Corp and Advantest hopes to sell 200 of the subsystems this year before DEC gets its own offering onto the market; the 51C has a capacity of 33.6Gb and also uses a Sony drive; the firm looks to sell 20 in the first year.
