Advanced RISC Machines Ltd today unveils a new development of its ARM710 microprocessor aimed at Personal Digital Assistants, mobile communications and office automation applications. Called the ARM7100, the microcontroller includes liquid crystal display driver, direct dynamic RAM interface, phase-locked loop clock multiplier, serial ports, real time clock, timers, coder-decoder interface and infra-red SIR protocol support. The clock can be as low as a 32KHz watch crystal for low power standby mode and the multiplier enables a 3.7MHz crystal to generate the 18.4MHz internal clock. The company is not giving prices.
