ADVANCED MICRONICS SETS UP US ARM

By CBR Staff Writer

Indian PC maker Advanced Micronics Devices Ltd has decided to set up a wholly owned subsidiary in the US as a part of its diversification into overseas software development. The company will invest $500,000 in the subsidiary, which will help the firm to get orders from abroad for its newly diversified software business and is expected to boost the company’s fortunes, which have been hit by low sales of PCs and peripherals. The company also plans to set up a software technology center in the southern city of Bangalore. AMDL is a value added provider for Microsoft, has a tie up with Digital Equipment (India) and distributes AST’s PCs in India.
