Despite its setback in the courts, Advanced Micro Devices Inc is forging ahead with plans for the Am486 microprocessor family, and is investing $160m in its SubMicron Development Center in Sunnyvale in preparation for expected demand for Am486 parts and its 5V Flash Memory products. The expansion will add more than 100 new highly skilled manufacturing employees to the 350 there.
