ADVANCED MICRO SINGLE CHIP MEDIA ACCESS CONTROLLER

Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro Devices Inc has introduced PCnet-Mobile, claimed to be the first single-chip Media Access Controller to support the IEEE 802.11 standard for wireless local area networks. It has PC Card and AT Plug ‘N’ Play Bus interfaces, an intelligent processor for Media Access Controller layer functions and a Transceiver Attachment Interface supporting Frequency-hopping Spread Spectrum, Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum and infra-red physical-layer interfaces.
