ADVANCED MICRO DEVICES WINS SONY CONTRACT

Advanced Micro Devices has won a contract to supply Sony Corp with 350MHz K6-2 for its Viavo PC range. The PCs will initially only be available in Japan but may migrate to the US market. The deal is more good news for the company as it announces its quarterly results (see separate story). A new survey from PC Data says that AMD has 48% of the CPUs in the entire PC market, while its has 61% of the sub-$1,000 PC market.
