A time division multiplex encryption chip that can minimise the risk of mobile phone conversations being intercepted has been developed by Advanced Electronic Products Ltd of Merseyside, and is to be fabricated by GEC Plc’s Marconi Electronic Devices in Europe and the US, with Privatel Ltd of Canada also marketing the thing in North America: the DVS1000 will cost UKP24 for 1,000-up.
