Advanced Computer Communications Inc, Rochester, New York is attacking the small office-home office market with the release of the Yukon ISDN bridge-router family. The range offers support for a single Ethernet local area network in a fixed configuration package costing less than ú1,000, so complementing the company’s high-end modular bridge-routers, said Advanced Computer Communications. Yukon features a single, auto-sensing Ethernet connector, that can connect to a 10Base-T network through an RJ-45 connector, or to a 10Base-5 network through an AUI connector. The Yukon is also said to offer a choice of an ISDN Basic Rate S/T or U interface. The product is available with two different software packages. The Yukon IP TeleCommuter includes support for network-level routing of TCP/IP, along with concurrent 802.1d bridging, and is aimed at users wanting Internet access, or Internet Protocol applications. Linkage

On the ISDN side, both versions support Peer-to-Peer Protocol for linkage, as well as the company’s own Multilink protocol, which enables the use of both B-channels in parallel between two routers. Multilink Peer-to-Peer Protocol will be added next quarter. The package also includes the company’s own Bandwidth Optimisation features, including compression that can improve data throughput by a factor of up to 4:1. Finally, on the management side, the Yukon is said to support Simple Network Management Protocol and has an RS-232 console port for out-of-band management. The management protocol implementation is MIB-II Management Information Base-compatible and includes the protocol’s SET operations. The IP TeleCommuter is available immediately at from ú1,000.
