Huntsville, Alabama-based Adtran Inc has announced the availability of its ISU Express family of ISDN access devices, aimed at home workers and those who need remote access to corporate networks. There are four models in the ISU Express series that integrate network termination and terminal adaptor functions into a single product, eliminating the need for an external NT1. The entry-level to the range is the ISU Express, which transmits data at speeds of up to 128Kbps synchronously, or 115.2Kbps asynchronously without compression. ISU Express/POTS adds to this functionality with a Plain Old Telephone Service interface for analogue telephone, external modem or facsimile connection, said the firm, while the ISU Express/Modem adds an integrated V.32bis/V.42bis m odem. Last up is the ISU Express/POTS and Modem which, as its name suggests, features all of the above. Of the range as a whole, Adtran said that ISDN is delivered from the network by a single two-wire U-interface over an RS-232 interface. It added that configuration of the units is achieved with a user-friendly menu system and AT commands. The range is shipping, now but no prices were given.
