ADOBE TEMPTS QUARK USERS TO PAGEMAKER

By CBR Staff Writer

Now that desktop publishing king Quark Inc is at its most vulnerable as its core Macintosh business starts to dwindle, Adobe Systems Inc is coming out fighting with a new scheme to help switch Quark users over to Adobe PageMaker more easily. As part of the new promotion, Adobe is offering a new QuarkExpress document conversion utility, along with discount pricing for users of competitive products, free technical support, and a CD ROM with product and technical information. The package comes with a tryout version of PageMaker 6.5 for Macintosh and Windows. QuarkExpress Converter 3.0, an update to version 2.01 that shipped on the PageMaker 6.5 CD-ROM, supports the conversion of single files or batches of documents created in QuarkXpress version 3.1 or later. The package is now available free for trial versions.
