Adobe Systems Inc has reorganized its upper management ranks, eliminating the position of chief operating officer and creating the office of the chairman of the board. The new office will be shared by John Warnock and Charles Geschke, who have jointly run the company since its founding in 1982 Both will answer to name chairman. Warnock will handle Adobe’s product strategy and technology direction, and retains the title of chief executive officer. Geschke will assume expanded roles in running the day- to-day operations and will remain in the position of president. David Pratt, vice president and COO has resigned effective November 30. Pratt, who spent nine years at Adobe is credited with building the company’s applications business from $10m annually to about $600m now. Earlier this month, Adobe reported third-quarter net income of $53.4m on revenue of $230m (CI No 3,251).
