Adobe Systems Inc has launched version 5.5 of Adobe Illustrator for the Apple Mac. The new release imports and exports editable Portable Document Format files, and includes a plug-in pathfinder filter for trapping, a PICT import filter and native support for the PowerMac series. It includes 220 typefaces. A deluxe CD-ROM edition is available. Both versions include the Adobe Acrobat Distiller and Exchange modules. There are also new text-handling features such as tabs, a spell checker, search and replace by font. It will ship later this quarter for ?480.
