The network publishing software vendor turned in revenues of $319.1m for the quarter ending August 29, up 12% on the year. This resulted in net income of $64.5m, up 36.7% on the year. Earnings per share were $0.28. The company had previously forecast earnings of $0.22 to $0.25 per share.

Adobe attributed its better than expected performance to its ePaper business, which grew 62% year on year. The firm said that going into the fourth quarter it is optimistic about growth opportunities across its business.

For the fourth quarter it expects revenues of $330m to $350m, with earnings per share of $0.30 to $0.32. Current analyst expectations for the fourth quarter are for earnings of $0.25 per share on sales of $332.5m.

Sales for the year to date stand at $936.2m, up 7.6% on last year, with net income of $183m, up 20.9%.
