Adobe Systems has introduced the Professional Edition of Digital Publishing Suite.

The company said that the new suite is a turnkey offering that includes hosted services and viewer technology that allow a spectrum of publishers to publish content to Android tablets, BlackBerry PlayBook and Apple iPad.

The Digital Publishing Suite integrates with Adobe InDesign CS5.5 and Creative Suite 5.5 software, which empowers designers with standard page layout capabilities for creating highly designed, engaging digital content that includes a new class of interactivity.

Used in conjunction with the Folio Producer tools in InDesign CS5.5, Digital Publishing Suite provides an end-to-end publishing offering for creation, distribution, commercialisation and analysis of high-value content including traditional magazines, newspapers, and corporate publications.

In addition, the Professional Edition provides media and business publishers and educational institutes with an expedient tablet publishing offering that offers creation of rich reading experiences; amplification of brand across mobile channels, distribution and monetisation of content across leading mobile marketplaces and tablet devices, said the company.

Adobe creative and interactive solutions senior vice-president David Wadhwani said the new suite meets the needs of a wide range of publishers looking to capitalise on the large number of readers and consumers embracing tablets and who need an immediate tablet publishing offering.

"While the entertainment aspect of tablet devices is incredibly high, we also know that tablets will have a profound impact on the enterprise. We are starting to see innovative work from companies like Mercedes-Benz to Credit Suisse, who have used our digital publishing tools to create fantastic brand experiences on tablet devices that address real business needs around customer engagement," Wadhwani said.

The Professional Edition of Digital Publishing Suite is available immediately, with pricing consisting of both a platform and service fee.
