Admiral Plc has announced two acquisitions to increase its presence in the legal sector. It has bought a 51% controlling interest in Sumlock Legal Ltd, the suppliers of Amicus, the Windows-based integrated Legal Practice Management System, for #168,000 and the rights to Tracpac and Logit, products of Hay Logic Ltd, which recently went into voluntary liquidation, for #60,000. Tracpac is aimed at small legal practices while Logit is a local government time recording system. Sumlock’s original Practice Management System, Advocate, is used by over 30 law firms in the UK – including major city practices. Some of these customers are now moving to Amicus, constructed with Admiral’s PowerBuilder tool, and others are soon to follow.
