ADIC COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF RAYTHEON’S EMASS

By CBR Staff Writer

Advanced Digital Information Corp, of Redmond, Washington, has now completed its acquisition of the EMASS tape storage division from Raytheon Co. The deal was first announced in July (CI No 3,458). ADIC is a 15 year-old supplier of automated tape libraries, and says EMASS, which made $64m in revenues last year, will immediately add to its revenues and provide a modest improvement in earnings, excluding acquisition related charges. ADIC paid approximately $25m for the unit in cash, and the assumption of $2m in mortgage indebtedness, and expects to incur restructuring charges and a one time charge for purchased R&D in its quarter and fiscal year ending on October 31. EMASS has operations in Colorado, Texas and in Germany.
