The company says it has substantially built up its software, originally focused on security log collection and management, to include real-time event correlation, reporting and alerting, in version 3.0, launched this week.
CEO Jim Pflaging said that SenSage 3.0 also doubles the number of vendors whose devices are supported for log extraction from 40 to 80, which he said is among the best in the industry. Scheduled reporting has also been added, he said.
The move means SenSage will now be competing against security event management software companies, including OpenService, e-Security, and GuardedNet, with which SenSage also partners.
We were partnering directly with many security event management vendors, but now we think we’ve got the one-vendor solution, Pflaging said. Now we see us partnering with major systems management vendors.
These SEM partners have previously signed up to use Addamark Omnisight – the part of the SenSage software that extracts data from device logs, compresses and stores it – underneath their own event correlation and analysis applications.
Pflaging said SenSage does not intend to terminate these partnerships. It will be up to customers to decide whether to buy from SenSage or partners, he said.
Also new in version 3.0 is support for IBM Tivoli and HP systems management software. SenSage can output SNMP to these applications, Pflaging said. The software costs between $50,000 and $200,000, he said.
